Breaking: KSW 52 – Scott Askham vs. Mamed Khalidov
Sources tell us that a huge KSW middleweight showdown is in the works for Gliwice, Poland on December 7th as current KSW Middleweight champion Scott Askham (18-4-0) defends his title against the returning KSW star Mamed Khalidov (34-6-2).
England’s Askham is one of the biggest names currently competing under the KSW banner having made the switch from the UFC in 2017.
After defeating fellow Englishman Luke Barnatt via decision at ACB 70, Askham made the move over to KSW and dished out a trio of explosive finishes, disposing of Michal Materla and Marcin Wojcik, both via TKO in round one. He once again clashed with Materla in May of this year, this time for the vacant Middleweight belt. The outcome was the same as their first outing, with Askham landing a crushing jumping knee to finish his Polish counterpart in round three.
With 14 of his 18 professional victories coming by way of stoppage, and at 3-0 in his KSW tenure, 31 year old Askham is one of the most entertaining Middleweights on the planet right now.
Khalidov, a former KSW Middleweight and Light Heavyweight champion, returns to action following the announcement of his retirement after his decision loss to Tomasz Narkun at KSW 46 in December 2018.
The loss marked back to back defeats for Khalidov at the hands of Narkun, with Khalidov suffering defeat via triangle choke in their initial meeting at KSW 42.
That loss ended a run of 7 years and 14 fights undefeated for Khalidov, with the Polish star having beaten a string of household names at middleweight and light heavyweight including Melvin Manhoef, Kendall Grove and Jesse Taylor.
With Khalidov holding 17 wins on his record via submission and a further 13 via KO/TKO, it is hard to see the fight going the distance when the two stars collide.
