Breaking: UFC South Korea – Aleksandar Rakić vs Volkan Oezdemir
Sources tell us that the UFC is working on a huge fight at the top of the Light Heavyweight division between Aleksandar Rakić and Volkan “No Time” Oezdemir in the final event of 2019 at UFC Busan in South Korea on December 21st.
It looks like the UFC fans could be receiving an early Christmas present this year as a fight is currently being worked on between Austrian superstar Aleksandar Rakić (12-1) and Swiss sensation Volkan Oezdemir (16-4).
Aleksandar Rakić is one of the rising stars of the UFC’s light heavyweight division, and comes into this fight off the back of a spectacular first round head kick KO over Jimi Manuwa at UFC Stockholm back in June.
Rakić has finished 10 of his 12 wins, with nine of those wins coming via knockout, which only demonstrates how much power he can generate with his strikes. He has also shown that he is dangerous on the ground as well, with a submission win via North-South choke on his record.
Oezdemir will be Rakić’s toughest opponent yet. With a finish percentage of 75%, the Swiss fighter possesses good striking, demonstrated by a second round KO over Ilir Latifi in his last fight at UFC Uruguay.
Should Rakić win this fight, he will well and truly be on a path to a light heavyweight title shot and the win could move him up into the top 5 of the division.
This fight demonstrates that the UFC’s 205lbs division is very much in good health after fan flack that the division was dieting, but with the likes of Rakić, Johnny Walker and Dominic Reyes climbing the ranks, it is now one of the most interesting to watch.
